Tread Lightly isn’t just about us, so we’ve set up the Eurostar Ashden Award for Sustainable Travel and cutaquarter.com to help others see how they can take simple steps to reduce their own carbon footprints.

We’re working with various partners and we want to hear about innovative, proven projects to encourage more people to consider travelling sustainably, and help you take simple steps to cut your own emissions.

We believe that high speed rail is the future of European travel, so we want more people to go further by train and connect from cities across the UK to destinations like Amsterdam, Cologne and the south of France.

As well as saving on stress and distractions, taking the train over the car or plane also saves on carbon. We’re currently carrying out an extensive study into just how much and will be publishing the results in the summer, so watch this space.

Tread Lightly begins at home, so while we want to help you make a difference we first need to have our house in order.

We’ve achieved a lot in terms of reducing our consumption, responsible sourcing and recycling. Now to make sure we’re still doing everything we can to reduce our environmental impacts we’ve set out the main targets we want to achieve, like reducing our CO2e emissions per Eurostar traveller journey by 35% by 2012, and cutting the emissions from our entire business by 25% by 2015.
